Existence Church Family,
Today while we gathered together at Existence Church and learned about the Kingdom of God another church in Sutherland, TX was victimized by a mass murder. This town had a population of 650 residents and 50 were shot while at church including several children and teenagers.
Being from a small town in Texas myself, I can imagine the impact this tragedy has inflicted. With approximately 1 of every 12 people in the town directly affected the possibilities of depression, anxiety and fear washing over the entire town is great. I also recognize that same depression, anxiety, and fear has the ability to wash over us all.
As we journey through Romans together, Paul encourages us regarding this unity of the Church across nations and those facing persecution:
“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” Romans 12:10-15 NIV
Join us as a church community and take a moment to pray for our fellow Christ followers to have the Peace of God’s Kingdom that surpasses all understanding rest on their town, on their church and in their homes in the coming days and weeks as they process together.
If any of you are feeling overwhelmed or would like to process with someone please reach out to me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (817-341-9651) and I am happy to meet and pray together.
